Santa Maria Playa Hotel

I rarely leave a bad review, but this stay was disappointing. The room had no minibar, the phone didn’t work, and the bed and pillows were awful. Wi-Fi was out, and breakfast wasn’t served outside the hotel. I even went to reception to buy water and found they had none for sale. The location was pretty average, with go-kart noise next door and noise from upstairs and neighboring rooms. Cleaning staff were also shouting loudly in the hallways.

The Saturday night noise from the Havana nightclub was noticeable on our first night, though we were told it’s only loud on Fridays and Saturdays. Earplugs could help on those nights, and hotels closer to the club probably hear even more of it. We stayed four nights in the second building, on the top floor, with a brilliant view of the mountains, sea, and Cala Millor. The hotel is spacious and good value for its facilities and location, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the beach. The pools are big, breakfast was decent, and the room’s shower had strong pressure and easy temperature control. Staff were attentive. A mini fridge and kettle in the room would have been useful, but it’s still a good option.

We had a good holiday here and didn’t regret booking, despite the negative reviews we’d seen. It’s good value, with a great spot near the beach, tasty breakfasts, and large supermarkets close by. My pillow was too firm, but they replaced it straight away with a softer one. The room was clean and housekeeping did a great job every day. You can hear people in neighboring rooms and the hallway, there’s no room fridge, and the air conditioning didn’t work very well.

The balcony view was amazing, and the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. The food was fresh, tasty, varied, and there was enough for everyone. My wife and I had a fantastic Mallorca vacation, but the hotel needs a lot of improvement. The conditions unfortunately don’t feel like three-star quality. The walls are paper thin, so you can even hear the phone vibrating in the next room, and the missing mini fridge is a big downside.
