El Galeon

We had a terrible experience with the service. Despite sending four messages in both English and Spanish through Booking.com about our ferry arrival times, we got no reply. Around 10pm, the hotel was locked and empty, even though we could see our keys on the reception desk. The emergency number was answered by someone who didn’t speak English and didn’t live onsite. We eventually managed to talk our way inside. The hotel manager left again before we noticed our room had no towels or bath mat, so we had to dry ourselves and the floor with a tea towel and dish cloth. The next day, with a fresh towel, I tried again to shower, but the water was cold and the pressure too low. The hotel was full, yet it seemed badly understaffed. This is the worst service I’ve encountered in years.

I’ve stayed at this apartment hotel over many years. The staff are great, and the rooms are clean and well kept. For the last couple of years, though, an outdoor disco or nightclub nearby has been extremely loud from Thursday to Saturday. Even with all the windows shut, you can still hear it very clearly.

The hotel is clean and nice, and the area is quiet. I didn’t like the very hard pillow or the bedroom smoke detector, whose red light flashed every five seconds and made it hard to fall asleep. Breakfast was very poor, though I guess that may have been because of COVID.

For the price, it was okay to good. The rooms were nice and well equipped, and there was private parking and free WiFi. The standard hotel breakfast buffet had a small to medium selection.
