Breakfast was basic, but nice, with three choices. The area in Sta. Cruz is the best one to stay in. Still, I don’t understand all the good reviews. A hotel needs to let people sleep, and I couldn’t. You hear everything: the entrance doors don’t block noise, and even the sound of neighbors tapping their lock touchpads comes through. At 22:30, the people next door had sex while we were right there, and at 0:30 others arrived and slammed their doors. There’s hardly any soundproofing.

The walls are thin and the windows close together, so noise from neighbors can carry. We were mostly lucky and didn’t have much trouble with it. Our room was clean and comfortable, though it had no kitchen supplies. There’s a shared fridge, and when we asked, they brought us an electric kettle. We were there during a heat wave, but the ceiling fan made the heat manageable. Rooms are locked with a password or app. Breakfast came with the stay, and you could pick English breakfast, the healthy option with avocado toast and yogurt, or something sweeter like croissants and pretzels. Everything was incredible and filling, and the staff were lovely, offering coffee or tea the way you like it. A really nice place for a few vacation days.

The staff really went the extra mile for us, and the place was super clean. We had a healthy breakfast every morning, too. El Hotelito 27 is in an unmatched spot in the historical center of Santa Cruz. Super friendly people and a comfy stay. I can’t recommend it enough!
