Casanaga

The hostel is cozy and laid-back, and the crew made us feel welcome. It’s a long way from everything, which can be nice, but I’d recommend having a car. There’s a small bar in the village and not much else. The beds weren’t the best I’ve had in hostels, but they were manageable.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and Ollie deserves a special mention for pitching in with guests and doing his best to make sure everyone had a good stay. The hostel itself is fantastic, in an idyllic, secluded part of North Tenerife with a great atmosphere. It’s a good base for hikes along the north coast of Anaga park. For hiking, bring proper shoes and waterproofs, especially around January, when trails can be muddy and wet. There’s a bus to town, but having a car gives you more flexibility. Parking near the hostel may be limited, though the staff can point you in the right direction.

It’s a beautiful, isolated spot, and that does make a car handy for getting around and exploring Anaga Rural Park as well as the rest of the island. It’s well worth seeing. The place has a warm, social, down-to-earth feel. Ollie and the volunteer team were lovely, and I’ll definitely come back.

Casanaga is remote, but the location is amazing. I felt welcome and at peace there, thanks in part to how warm and open-hearted Ollie and his team were. The space was clean and organized, and the beds were comfortable. I had a wonderful time ✨
