Tenerife Art Hostel

A heads-up from experience: don’t drink the tap water. There’s a supermarket only 5 meters away, and it stays open late. The hostel itself is cool, though a little run down. It has a nice terrace and one big shared bathroom. Their card machine wasn’t working when I was there, so they said they could only accept cash. Hopefully that gets sorted soon.

The fridge was well organized and there’s a supermarket nearby, but the staff handled constructive feedback rudely and childishly. They also weren’t much for conversation beyond showing guests around, and the place had no real social atmosphere. At night, the step in the bedroom is poorly lit and could be dangerous if you don’t know the layout. The showers and toilets are cramped together, so you can hear three people using the loo. The toilet cubicle is especially tight, practically unusable if you’re over 185 cm.

The rooftop terrace is awesome, and the rooms are comfortable. Really nice location too, this is a great hostel.

The rooftop is huge, with artificial grass that feels soft and loungers. There’s room to relax, exercise, or do yoga. At night the hostel stays quiet, though motorcycles around the city can be heard, so I’d bring earplugs. For someone like me who’d rather spend money on experiences than a bed, this place struck a good balance of price and comfort. The mattress was great, and the atmosphere felt more upscale than the worn, studenty feel many hostels have. Rooms had enough space to move around even when full, and the lockers were roomy enough that I didn’t have to keep rearranging my things. Bathrooms stayed clean, the big hotel-style showerheads were nice, and clean sheets were easy to get. It’s family-run, which made the service feel personal. The owner was attentive, responsive, and clearly wanted guests to enjoy their stay. Everyone was friendly. Laundry was quick and efficient: I came back to find my clothes folded neatly on the bed, a little hotel-like luxury. I imagine they may find that harder to keep up during busy periods, but I appreciated it. The location is walkable to the city center and near a bus stop, with a supermarket right beside the hostel for quick errands.
