Urban Anaga Hotel

Everything looked tacky and cheap, and the whole stay was the worst experience I’ve had. This is a hotel with a club that stays open until 4am. I can’t understand how it got a license. It would drive even the sanest person mad. AVOID AVOID AVOID

The rooms seemed clean, but mine smelled of smoke. The hotel also has a bar and a club on the seventh floor, so anyone bothered by nighttime noise should steer clear. The location itself is excellent, with restaurants and bars just a short walk away.

The room felt bare and lifeless, with no soft furnishings to soften the sound. The balcony was pointless, the furniture was tired and cigarette-burnt, and the bed springs were uncomfortable. Noise was constant: it sounded like a nightclub in the building, people ran and shouted in the halls until 4:30am, and there was tram noise outside. I got no sleep. The front desk welcome was friendly, but nobody told us about breakfast, using the gym, or the opening hours for anything, including the advertised rooftop bar. They seemed more focused on taking my credit card to cover the room, which was ridiculous given the damage and the state of the furnishings. There was a kettle but no coffee, just lots of sugar. Both the bedroom and bathroom smelled of chlorine. The place didn’t seem eco-friendly or to use sustainable cleaning products. The air conditioning wasn’t on when we arrived. Since nobody showed us to the room, we didn’t know how to operate it. It turns out reception controls it, which would have been fine if they’d actually switched it on. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone.

The location is great and the rooms were clean. Most of the front desk staff weren’t very helpful, though Eider was lovely and did help us.
