Casa Las Dalias

Carla was a highlight of our visit. With vivid blue hair and several languages, she handled the bar and our table on her own, yet stayed easygoing and attentive throughout. We came to Las Dalias Cafe (LDC), just south of San Carlos, on a winter day and found a warm, quiet escape from its lively summer side. Inside, the muted colors and wood worked nicely together, and there were roomy tables and sofas by a cozy fireplace. The Eggs Benedict were the star. I had smoked salmon, while my companion chose British ham, and both were among the best on the island. I’d heard that all summer and finally tried them once things were quieter. The plating was a bit like a playful kitchen frisbee toss, but the flavor, temperature and balance were right on. We had excellent coffee, ordered another round of Eggs Benedict because I was hungry and they were so good, then added a Baileys and a mezcal. A lovely brunch. The friendly welcome and satisfying meal made this a place I’d recommend for a peaceful, tasty break.

The food is fresh, flavorful and well prepared. The roast beef and salmon sandwiches are especially good, worth visiting for by themselves. It’s a welcoming restaurant with a great atmosphere, and the modern, stylish interior adds to the experience. The staff are consistently warm, attentive and friendly, so it feels easy to settle in. A great choice if you’re going to Las Dalias Market or one of its well-known parties, such as Namaste.

We ordered hummus, gyozas and pizza, with a pint of beer for my partner and a margarita for me. The food was incredible. I’ve had plenty of gyozas, and these may have been the best. They came with an unusual little miso dip that we loved so much we dipped our pizza crusts into it. We’d gone to the market, one of the few things we still hadn’t done together in Ibiza, but eventually needed food. The market options of pizza slices or cocktails without seats weren’t going to work, so we left and came back to the cafe at the front. It looks lovely, with a relaxed Balearic feel. I was a bit wary of the menu mixing so many kinds of dishes, since I usually associate that with risk, but we were glad we ordered. The food arrived before the drinks, which wasn’t ideal. We know staffing has been tough on the island this year, so tried to be patient. We’d definitely return.

Carla was wonderful. We had an easy breakfast, with great food and service.
