Mas La Costa

The house is in a great spot beside the Jordà beech forest, but the stay was very expensive for what we experienced. There weren’t enough kitchen basics: a house for 14 people had just 8 large plates, along with missing glasses and other accessories. We also had problems with the beds, with broken bases that gave way when we lay down and left us on the floor. Some bathroom tiles were broken, and the garden railing meant to prevent falls was in very poor shape, falling apart when we leaned on it. That seems especially bad for children. We tried calling and emailing the owner, but got no response. The house itself is really good, but the treatment we received didn’t measure up.

The location is spectacular, and the hosts were really helpful. We were 15 people, which made cooking tricky, especially with such a small oven, so we used the outdoor BBQ instead. The sofas were very worn, and there wasn’t room for all of us to sit together in one space. Everything else was perfect.

Flies were everywhere in the house, from the sinks and closets to the bedrooms, food, and drinks. It was unbearable and disgusting, and they even woke us at night. The owners leave insecticide in the house, but clearly that isn’t enough. With small children in winter, we couldn’t spray the whole place and then stay inside. We don’t know what might solve the problem, but if there’s no solution, it should be discussed before renting. This wasn’t a matter of us not knowing how to handle rural surroundings; there were just far too many flies. I won’t post photos out of respect, but I felt I needed to write a review.

The farmhouse is fine, but the flies inside were inhumane, just brutal. Flies all over the food. I’d call the place “Can mosca”.
