The central location was the one good part of my stay at Studio Aranzazu in Santander. The room and facilities felt neglected, and the cleanliness was nowhere near what I expected. At check-in, I only had my U.S. driver’s license because I’d left my passport at a friend’s house. I showed a copy of the passport too, which the receptionist eventually accepted, but she was dismissive and spoke to me in a condescending, derogatory way instead of explaining the policy politely. Her manner felt unprofessional and unnecessarily unpleasant. That poor service and the condition of the hotel made the stay uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially when there are better options in Santander.

It’s in the newer central area, on one of the main calles, with the port reachable by bus, e-bike from a rental spot right across the street, or a short walk. The rooms are basic, but have what you need for a few days, including a little fridge and stove. Staff were friendly and helpful with tourist information. As in many places in Spain, there’s no daily housekeeping. I’d suggest grabbing morning coffee and a pastry at the nearby Peter y Pan cafe.

My reservation was cancelled the day before I was due to arrive, and I couldn’t get anyone on the phone or get a reply to any of my messages. First, a dubious-looking account sent me a WhatsApp saying to watch for an “SMS” to make a payment. That seemed odd since texts can easily be fraudulent. They had sent an email instead, which I missed, then cancelled the booking and ignored all contact.

I paid €100 a night on July 25, 2025. It was the cheapest place I could find, and the hotel is right in the city centre. My room was small, with a tiny kitchen, but it had all the equipment needed to cook.

The location is hard to beat, just off Alameda de Ojeda and an easy walk from pretty much everything in town. The service is good and basic, with no daily cleaning. Rooms have a little fridge and stove, handy for a short stay. My only real gripe was the tiny shower and its maddening curtain that kept sticking to me.
