Gavimar Cala Gran Hotel and Apartments

This is a very good three-star hotel, and I think some guests expect five-star standards when they book. For what it costs, the location alone makes it worthwhile. You’re right by the beach and close to restaurants and shops. Rooms were spotless, the beds comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. The all-inclusive meals have something for everyone, although the food can get repetitive.

It’s a pleasant stay overall, but I don’t think I’d choose this hotel again. The sea is a relaxed five-minute walk away, and there are plenty of nearby restaurants and shops if the hotel food and drinks don’t suit you. The food and drinks themselves were good, and staff were friendly and welcoming, apart from the room cleaning. Our room needed renovation. It wasn’t cleaned until the third day. They emptied the bin but didn’t replace the bag, leaving some rubbish behind. The beds weren’t made, sand wasn’t shaken off, and the floors weren’t washed. They only changed the towels. When I asked reception what cleaning included, they couldn’t tell me. Pool towels cost €7 each, and the ones we borrowed had holes in them.

The beach is lovely, with very clean, bright blue water, and the hotel is right by it. For the price, the stay was okay. It could suit someone looking for a cheap, relaxing break, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Our room needed an upgrade. The sheets weren’t changed all week, and although the room was cleaned daily, the cleaning wasn’t good enough. There was no tea or coffee setup or fridge, the TV signal was poor, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work well. Food was good and there were enough dishes to choose from, but the restaurant was too small for the number of guests, so we had to wait for a table on the all-inclusive plan. The pool was small too, and drinks were so-so.

We had a great family stay at the Gavimar Cala Gran Costa Hotel and Resort in Mallorca. The hotel is large, with three pools for different ages, and the town centre and lots of shops are close by. The beach is just a minute away on foot and visible from the poolside entertainment area. Staff were especially thoughtful: they surprised my parents with champagne for their birthdays. We were unsure about the food after reading reviews, but found it perfectly fine. There was always plenty to pick from, even if some dishes were bland. The choices got repetitive after a few days, but we enjoyed the meals overall. Our room had plenty of space for five and two bathrooms, which was a real plus. The snack buffet was excellent and there were lots of good drink options. Daytime entertainment was good, and the evening bingo, music, and quizzes made for a fun atmosphere. The one thing we didn’t like was the rule against floats and balls in the pool. We’d definitely recommend the hotel to other families.
