Casa de Afora

The garden was spacious and romantic, with comfortable loungers, pleasant views, a long pool that was lovely for swimming laps, and hills nearby opening onto yellow flowers and a babbling brook. It was a wonderful escape from busy city life in Boston. My husband and I stayed three days at Casa de Afora in late May and were sorry we couldn’t stay longer. The traditional rural house is beautifully preserved outside and well renovated, comfortable, sparkling clean, and equipped with everything we wanted. Wisteria and gardenia were blooming, and the smell of apple pie greeted us when we arrived. Maria Jose was a gracious, warm hostess who made us feel at home right away. She generously helped arrange transportation to and from my husband’s nearby scientific conference. We’re already dreaming of a longer return. Muchas gracias, señora Maria Jose, hasta luego!

You’re surrounded by nature here, yet Santiago is only five minutes away by car, so the location couldn’t be better. The owners, María José and Manuel, are lovely and helpful, and make you feel at home. The house is incredibly beautiful and comfortable, with everything you could need. I highly recommend it for a few blissful days.

The garden is beautiful and so well cared for, and we loved having access to the little family vegetable garden. The house has countless thoughtful touches and is very well equipped, while the saltwater pool is comfortable and lovely. What really made the difference, though, was María José. Her generosity and helpfulness, including the thoughtful things she did each day during our July stay, were exceptional. We’re grateful and hope to return soon to try the new Jacuzzi. Thank you, María José.

We were greeted with lots of breakfast things, plus a delicious apple tart they had baked for us. The owners were lovely, and the house was beautiful. The pool and jacuzzi area looked so inviting, and the jacuzzi water was pleasantly warm. We’ll definitely come back! :)
