Compostela Hotel

The people at the counter were great, and breakfast was good. It's a cute hotel, close to everything. Definitely coming back!

Keep an eye on your belongings if you stay here. The location is nice, but I can't honestly recommend the hotel. In August 2025, while we were out for a quick lunch for about an hour, jewelry was stolen from our room. Instead of enjoying our vacation, we spent a day at the police station filling out affidavits and speaking with the police and hotel staff. The manager downloaded the room's key swipe log. In my conversation with the detective, we discussed that the only people who had entered while the items went missing were housekeeping staff. Management was contrite, but I won't be staying here again.

We came back to this hotel for our anniversary because of a special room we'd stayed in two years earlier. When booking directly on the hotel's website, we clearly asked for that specific room and mentioned the occasion. It was the reason we chose to return. At arrival, they acknowledged the request but assigned us a different room, saying only that it was the one available. There was no explanation or sincere apology. It felt as though our very personal message had been ignored, and having our one request dismissed on a meaningful trip we'd anticipated for months was deeply disappointing. The hotel talks about personal service and attention to detail, but that wasn't our experience. We left feeling let down and won't return.

I don't usually post reviews like this, but wanted people to know what to expect. The place is clean and in a great location, though the hospitality was poor. They sent a very welcoming message, which seemed promising for the price, but things felt different once I arrived. After walking more than 500 km on the Camino from Burgos to Compostela, I wanted to treat myself to a nice stay. I was exhausted and in pain, and had dragged myself to the supermarket for food, wine, and water. When I called reception to ask for a wine opener, they told me to find one in the hotel cafeteria. The woman there said I had to bring her the wine because it was her only opener, and asked where she would get another if she lent it to me. I couldn't believe it. I just wanted to open my bottle. I went back to my room without the energy for an argument, and joked that I wouldn't dare ask for towels in case I was sent to the laundry to fold them myself. Some reception staff were nice, but the afternoon guys seemed not to care. I planned to stay a second night but couldn't stand it. If you want a central, decent place that's pricey but not very welcoming, this is it.
