Hotel San Jacobo

The car park is nice, the shower is good and the beds are comfortable enough. But for almost €60 a night, the lack of sound insulation is really bad. The walls and ceilings are so thin you hear everything, from water rushing through the pipes to people talking in the corridors and machines washing. It’s insane. With earplugs it’s tolerable.

We had a very comfortable night, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The café next door is part of the hotel, and it’s friendly too, with good food and drinks. Since it’s on the Camino, it’s easy to find your way to the Cathedral and old town, about a half-hour walk that’s VERY interesting. I’m still not sure why this is rated as a one-star hotel.

Free parking right in front of the hotel, and the town is a 30-minute walk away. Our room had a double bed and two single beds, plus a huge toilet. There’s a lift at the back, which is a plus. Good value for money!

The room was clean, with a comfortable bed and a good-sized bathroom. The rooms themselves are a good size too. The trouble is there’s no insulation between them, so you hear toilets flushing and showers running all night.
