Moure Hotel

The room design was so odd that we got a good laugh out of it, though I’m not sure why they chose it. We had two twin beds. The shower was right by the room entrance and had no frosted glass, so there was no privacy. The bathroom had no door either. There was a cute bath area separate from the shower and toilet, but it didn’t have a door that closed fully. The location was amazing, within walking distance of the cathedral and all the adorable shops and restaurants. The staff were lovely and arranged a taxi for our flight. Since we were leaving before breakfast, they packed a snack bag for us too. The coffee pot in the common area was incredible.

The central spot makes it easy to find restaurants for whatever you feel like eating, even though the hotel only serves food at breakfast. I’ve stayed at Moure hotel several times and it feels like a home away from home. The rooms have a modern boutique look, some with balconies, and the beds are comfortable. Housekeeping keeps both the rooms and common areas in great shape. The reception team is second to none, and breakfast has a good spread of charcuterie, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, tea, and coffee.

Breakfast gets the day going, and the fresh orange juice squeezed right in front of you is a treat. The rooms are really clean, too. Paulo, Angela, and Monica are fantastic hosts, always ready with suggestions on what to see or where to eat. The hotel is beautifully situated near the Cathedral, restaurants around Rui de Franco and Francisco, and the Mercado. Try room 32. For what you get, they could charge more. I’m not sure those three will still be there when I return, since I expect they’ll move on to bigger and better things.

We got large umbrellas to use on the overcast day, a thoughtful touch. The hotel is in a quiet spot near the old town, and I’d happily stay again. From outside it looks small and minimalist, and the elevator is a squeeze, but the rooms are modern and bright. Sliding wooden blinds block out all the light. Staff are friendly, and the basic breakfast is fresh and enough to start the day, with freshly squeezed orange juice and large pieces of toast. Great location.
