Pensión Acibeche

The room was extremely dirty and wasn’t worth what I paid.

The positives were the convenient location and that I didn’t see any insects, though there were blood marks on the wall. Despite the cathedral bell right beside the pension and a very noisy air conditioner, I slept really well both nights. The mattress, pillow, and bedding were wonderful. The bathroom needs renovation, but it worked completely fine and I had no trouble using it. I stayed in Room 3, on the top floor. I hadn’t realized how many flights of stairs I’d have to climb, and when I got there I found no windows, just a skylight overhead. It felt a bit scary, and in an accident there’d be no way to get out. The Wi-Fi is available, but the signal didn’t reach this room. At first glance, the place was disappointing. The virtual check-in is an interesting idea, but far too difficult to manage. I couldn’t get the place where my keys were stored to open at all. After a long walk, that can be frustrating. I think there are only three rooms in the whole pension.

Because of an error we still haven’t managed to clear up, the post office left our suitcase there. After several calls with the owner, she refused to return it. We had to go to another hotel she owns, where she rudely asked for 5 euros to hand over the suitcase. We paid, of course, and our mistake was not calling the police.

We had a terrible stay, and the place fell far short of what we expected. The room was freezing, the radiator didn’t work, and neither did the TV. We reported it at 4:00 PM, but they didn’t bring another radiator until 11:00 PM. Plugging it in knocked out the power. We couldn’t charge our phones, get a hot shower, or sleep in a room warmer than 18°C. The people staying upstairs told us they were in the same situation. We’d paid 70 euros for one night at this guesthouse, but the service was devastating, inhumane, and intolerable. They wouldn’t take responsibility for anything and said there were no refunds. Please don’t trust the photos; what we found on arrival is what we’re describing here. We hope this helps future guests.
