The views over the city are stunning, and it’s a glorious park with a wide variety of plants and trees. Sadly, some of the beds needed maintenance.

This is the centre of old Santiago, with underground parking and toilet facilities, plus a bus and taxi stop. There are local shops and places to eat, and the Cathedral and medieval Santiago are literally across the street, within walking distance. It feels safe, but as in any major tourist town, visitors should stay alert and not be foolish.

You notice the change from Barcelona to Galicia as soon as you're in the air, with green land stretching out below. On the 15 km trip from the airport into the city, you get a feel for both the villages and the city, and each has its own character. I loved Galicia...

The rooms were reasonable, though our sheets had stains. The main problem was the owner. Our luggage delivery was put in the wrong room because the bag was under my name while the booking was in my girlfriend's. We called to find out where it was and whether it had been stolen, but he didn't answer and was barely responsive on WhatsApp. When he came to look for it, he shouted at us and smacked the wall as we spoke. We did find the bag, but he was very rude and seemed unable to deal with people. I hope he gets better at that.
