There’s a Suma market close by, but I found the rest of the stay really disappointing, especially for the much higher price compared with other Nest hostels. You have to accept a lot of compromises. The small dorm holds 10 people, and using the “locker” disturbs the others. There’s no air conditioning, and the room smells very bad. The humidity and odor made it impossible for me to relax there, unlike at some other hostels. I found the other guests odd too, mostly badly mannered men over 30 who seemed lost. Puerto Nest had a much more welcoming vibe. The main guy at reception also makes the beds and “cleans” the floor once a day. One time I saw the floor was wet when I was going to the bathroom, so I tried to turn back, but he yelled at me for “wanting to pass.” He was extremely hyperactive and childish, anything but professional, and after that I felt he had a personal problem with me. On my last day I’d already left the dorm and stayed in the common area a little past checkout while waiting for a friend who had already toured. He rudely and irritably asked when I was leaving. He made me feel very uncomfortable, as if I were in his own house. Working remotely here is out of the question too, since he plays music extra loud and doesn’t give a damn.

The hostel had such a lovely vibe and energy. The team and the other guests were all amazing and really friendly. I had a wonderful stay and couldn’t recommend it more.

I had a really pleasant time here and would happily return. The staff were amazing, everyone was super friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely.

I spent two weeks at this lovely hostel in Tenerife. They have several locations around the island, which gives you options for your adventures or the area you want to stay in. Staff and coworkers were more than helpful with questions and information. I’d highly recommend it if you want to move around the island or enjoy whichever side you prefer.

Compared with three years ago, the hostel feels like a rundown, lifeless shell of what it was. There’s no fun, and the people seemed weird. Breakfast used to be included, but now they say regulations mean they can’t offer it. The price has still gone up considerably. The whole chain feels built around mass tourism and maximum profit, with signs everywhere telling you what to do. Before arrival we were spammed with emails pushing an unnecessary online check-in, even though we’d already provided all the required information when booking. After checkout, another email arrived reminding us to complete that check-in. I don’t need a check-in just to get the door code, Wi-Fi, and bed number. They could send those to the contact details I already gave them, as other accommodations do. In our double room, the balcony door wouldn’t lock. The doors were loud, especially when people didn’t know how to close them quietly. The bed shook a lot, so you won’t sleep well if your bed neighbor is active.
