Pension El Puerto

The place is really old, and the cleaning was only average, though decent. We came hoping to rest, but between late night shouting, banging and arguments, we barely could. People had no respect for anyone trying to sleep. At €45 a night, I'd rather pay €10 extra for somewhere better. We never even met the manager; she left the payment and key handover to people living in the hostel. A terrible experience, and we're not coming back.

For €40 a night, there are plenty of better options, so I can't recommend this place and won't return. The online listing called it a hotel, and the photos made the room look fairly modern, with a double bed and private bathroom. In reality, there were two separate single beds, old furniture and a poor bathroom with no shower gel or shampoo.

We only stayed because it was mid-August and too late to find somewhere else. The place was filthy, and the Wi-Fi didn't reach our room. Stains covered the curtains and white bedspreads, the floor was dirty, and the bathroom had soap residue and grime in the shower, with stained tiles. We felt disgusted sleeping there. The receptionist was friendly, and the sheets and towels were decent, but the owner first gave us one price and then asked us to add €5. I wouldn't return.

The building and street were both really quiet, and the staff were very friendly. My room was clean too. It worked well for a few nights while I had things to do in the city, especially since I needed to be near the port.
