Rectoral de Goian

This was a special stay in an old rectory in a quiet country setting, even though it’s off the Camino. They pick you up and take you back, and I felt lucky to be there. My room was huge, with a sitting area, a large bathroom with a tub, and beautiful countryside views. The shared spaces were cozy. The food was excellent, made in house with local ingredients. I loved the salad starter with crisp, fresh vegetables, and my beef steak was medium rare. Dessert was homemade chocolate soufflé. This was nothing like a standard pilgrim menu with overcooked, bland food. Breakfast included American-style pancakes along with platters of cheese and meats, eggs, toast, cereal, and yogurt. I loved my stay and am sorry to leave.

The hosts were amazing, the place was wonderful, and the food was among the best I’ve had on the Camino. I’d rate it 10/10. A must-stay!

The garden is an idyllic spot for a beer, and the food has been the best we’ve had since we started. It’s a little off the Camino, but this place is genuinely lovely.

Getting picked up at Morgade or Sarria and brought over whenever suits you makes staying here easy. Javier and Raquela were gracious and accommodating hosts. This hidden gem has spacious, spotless rooms and beds with crisp sheets that are so comfortable. I slept better than ever. The food is hard to describe: everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. They’re chefs, not just cooks, and the food is simply amazing. I highly recommend staying here on the Camino.
