Hostal Don Jaime I y II

The room was a good size, and the place was clean, well located, and a great price. I had a pleasant stay. The only thing that bothered me was hearing late arrivals upstairs. The soundproofing could be better.

My top floor room had working AC, but there’s no elevator to get up there. The hostel itself was very clean, with friendly, helpful staff. Coffee, toast, and orange juice are available at 7:30 am for 4 euros.

The hostal was clean and well located, and in general it was acceptable, especially if you avoid the top floor of the annexe. We’d booked several months ahead for two nights, but the attic room on the third floor had no lift and was definitely too small for three people at full price. The bed they called a double was really only about one and a half squares wide. My seven-year-old daughter and I had to switch places to sleep. When I asked to change rooms, I was told, not very warmly, that the hotel was full.

It’s a hostel, so keep expectations low. The rooms are small, with tiny double beds and one shared pillow for the whole bed. In 2024, there are individual pillows, so they should know better. The gel and shampoo sachets aren’t enough, and you’ll have to ask reception for more. There’s no elevator, and street parking costs by the hour. The bedroom noise is terrible. You can hear people in the next room talking or using the toilet. The Acueducto de Segovia is a three-minute walk away, but this hostal isn’t comfortable at all. Avoid it at all costs.
