Hostal Residencia Taray

The guy was nice and clearly doing his best, but we didn’t like the place. It was cheap, yet there are better options in town for a little more. The room wasn’t very clean, and damp was so bad that the walls were wet. With the heating turned all the way up, it felt like a steam bath, which was weird. The bedding was old, and the sheets looked heavily used. The place needs a makeover.

It’s in town and close to most things, but sits at the bottom of a hill, so you need to be able to walk back up. Google seemed confused and made it hard to find. The owner-manager was nice and helpful. Sleeping arrangements were adequate. There’s no air conditioning, just a fan.

Close to everything and great value for the price. It was very clean, the service was good and accommodating, and there was good Wi-Fi and nice hot water. A great hostel.

The central location was the only thing I liked. The hostel smelled awful when I arrived, the rooms were tiny, and the ceilings and bathroom were damp. The heat in the room was unbearable, with no air conditioning or refrigerator. The beds and pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. Damp covered the bathroom ceiling too, and the hand soap they provided was practically useless for showering. Some nights, people in the apartments above made a lot of noise and chaos until 2 a.m. I’d never stay there again.
