Basic Hotel Sevilla Catedral

Francesco at the desk made us feel welcome and pointed us toward some great local places. Our room was clean and had what we needed, including a hairdryer and safe, and the cleaning lady was friendly too. We were pleasantly surprised to find free coffee, soft drinks, and sweets as well. We had a great stay.

The bed was comfortable, the shower stayed hot, and the location was perfect. We also appreciated the free drinks and cereal near the front desk. Street noise carried into our room and made it hard to sleep, though, so that took a star off what was otherwise a good stay.

We couldn't make our trip after our 17-month-old child had an accident and broke two fingers a few days before we were due to travel. My husband had booked the hotel. We understood that cancelling meant losing the money, and we weren't asking for a refund. We hoped the hotel might let us move the booking to some dates the following year, but they weren't flexible at all. I wish they'd shown some understanding in a situation involving an injured child. Sevilla is one of our favorite cities, and my husband proposed to me there exactly three years ago. We had wanted to return with our child, but now it won't be possible, even in the future, because of the lack of understanding and flexibility.

The rooms felt like hostel rooms upgraded with an ensuite bathroom. I booked through a third-party platform and chose an interior courtyard room because I expected the street-facing ones to be noisy. Instead, I was given Room 11, facing the public toilet and next to the lobby, storage area, stairs, and elevator. When I asked for another room on arrival, I was told none were available. I tried to take a siesta, but noise from the lobby and street kept going, so I gave up on resting. Things quieted down at night and I slept well, which is why I gave it two stars.
