Casa Palacio San Jose

The apartment itself was beautiful, but the staff were terrible. The price was above market, and there are much better options in Seville. Stay away. A bathroom lock was broken and my brother was trapped inside for 15 minutes. He had to force the door by sliding a piece of metal into the lock. We arrived four minutes after 9 pm and were charged a 30 euro late fee. That's not even late in Spain, it's dinner time. They insisted on cash, which seemed intended to help them avoid taxes and maybe legal issues. Karina shouldn't be working in hospitality. She was rude and condescending, called me uneducated for speaking normally, and assumed my family couldn't speak English. We've lived in the US for over 30 years, while her English was broken. Mi español es mejor que su inglés. She first said parking cost 25 euros a night, then told us it was 30, and charged me 10 euros extra on top. When her math was wrong, she blamed me for making her flustered. Avoid these clowns. There are many better places nearby.

The terrace and inner courtyard were lovely, and the place is ideally situated near the cathedral. Getting the apartment was a hassle, though: we had to pay several deposits in advance, then wait an hour after arriving in Seville before we could get in. For a holiday, it would be much better if the process were simpler.

The room and establishment looked nothing like the photos, which made the price feel far too high. We booked because of those pictures and the glowing reviews, but when we were shown to the room, it was so dismal we wondered if it was a housekeeping room. The photos seem heavily filtered and framed to hide parts of the room, and I suspect the reviews are fake too. There was no hospitality to speak of. Don't be fooled, book somewhere else.

We had a quiet stay in a great family-friendly area, and our apartment had three bedrooms with their own bathrooms, plus a separate toilet by the living room. The common patio was lovely for afternoons, and the terraces were good for sunbathing. Inside, there was a large living room and a kitchen stocked with what we needed, including welcome breakfast, Nespresso capsules, a toaster, pans, a microwave and a fridge. Bathroom gel and shampoo were provided, and the WiFi was great. The elegant, cozy house feels carefully looked after. It’s ideal for a short break or a longer stay, too. The location is hard to beat: a five-minute walk to the Cathedral and Alcazar, and three minutes to the Alfalfa area with its tapas and sangria bars. We’re already looking forward to staying at Palasio again.
