Honest Sevilla

The staff were the real highlight, always cheerful, kind, and helpful, and the common areas are lovely. The location is very central, so we could walk everywhere. Seville hotels and hostels can be pricey, with event rates sometimes higher than London, so for an average budget this felt like a decent option. Breakfast was just okay, with some variety but nothing special. The dining area is tiny, especially for groups bigger than two, though staff tried to coordinate and texted to ask when we’d arrive. There were hairs on the floor when we checked in, and the rooms also feel small if you have more than two people. At over €250 a night, that’s about average for the city center, but in most cities I think you could get far better for that price. It’s a really nice “hotel” overall, and I’d recommend it.

The employees were pleasant and the location is good, but that’s all I can praise about Honest Sevilla. Our room was dirty, damp, and smelly, and looked nothing like the photos on the booking sites. Maybe we just got unlucky with the room, but it’s unacceptable. Take a look at the pictures. I definitely wouldn’t come back. The room photos certainly aren’t honest.

We arrived Wednesday afternoon with my child, before check-in time, and a lovely young woman at the desk welcomed us with a warm smile. She got us into a lovely first-floor room beside the open area, with plenty of natural light. So far, so good. We’re expecting the stay to go well through the weekend, when we leave, and I’ll update this at the end.

Room 101 was modern and roomy enough, and the bathroom had a shower. To be completely honest, the bathroom was a little small and had a slight smell, but that’s my only complaint. For what I paid, I’m not grumbling, it was worth more than the price in the middle of town. The location is perfect, the staff are really friendly, and even if you skip breakfast you can help yourself to free tea and coffee.
