Hotel Inglaterra Sevilla

The dog restrictions made it hard to use any of the hotel's facilities. Although dogs can stay in the room, mine, a 4 kg miniature dog, couldn't come into the breakfast area, restaurant or onto the terrace, and couldn't be left alone in the room. That was especially disappointing since many restaurants and terraces in town welcome dogs. The hotel terrace is open air, with no carpets and plenty of space between tables, so I don't understand why hotel guests with dogs can't use it. Travellers with pets would benefit from clearer information about these rules online. Room service is available, but it doesn't compare with the breakfast buffet, and there's no suitable table or space to eat comfortably in the room. It was uncomfortably warm because the air conditioning was set to heating. Opening the windows wasn't a good fix: a nearby bell tower rang every hour through the night, and there was general street noise too. The hotel is clean and well located, but feels dated and not like what I'd expect from a four-star property. To me, it seems closer to three-star standard. I chose it because it advertised online as four-star and dog friendly, but the stay didn't fully match that. People travelling with dogs, or expecting a more luxurious four-star experience, may want to keep this in mind before booking.

The hotel's location is golden, with everywhere reachable on foot, and I strongly recommend it. I visited Seville with my wife and child, and my own mistake could have made the trip disastrous. Thanks to Mr.Javi and Ms.Lourdes at reception, we ended up with a more than comfortable room. I'm deeply grateful to them. They made our trip in Seville.

We booked a Deluxe Room with a "VISTA" through the hotel website after speaking with reservations. It turned out to overlook a building site in Plaza Nueva, which the staff hadn't mentioned. On Monday morning, pneumatic drilling woke us at 8:00. The hotel wouldn't do anything about it because the VISTA hadn't cost extra. A shame, since the location is very good and the staff are generally very nice. The place is showing its age too. We were surprised to have to stand in a bath to shower in a Deluxe room that cost nearly 300e per night.

The breakfast was the weak point. The hot options were cold or lukewarm and seemed to have been sitting out for ages. The cold meats and cheese were uncovered and drying out, which wasn't nice, especially for the price. Parking is available if you book ahead, but the bar prices were high. Otherwise it was clean and quiet, with very comfortable beds, maybe the best I've slept in. Service at reception and the roof terrace bar was very good, and the hotel offered good value overall.
