Magnificent 1 Bedroom Apartment With Balcony Santa Marta III

I went to Café Santa Marta early on a Saturday in early April 2026 and was among the first customers. Google Maps' opening hours may not be quite right, perhaps because of the season, so it's worth checking. Spanish was mostly needed, but simple translation apps and gestures worked fine. I came specifically to try Tortilla de Patatas for the first time at an authentic local spot, and really enjoyed it. The orange juice was freshly squeezed as I ordered, and arrived in seconds. I finished with a Café con leche. The whole breakfast was just 8,30 EUR, great value for the quality.

We tried five tapas: paella, Iberian pork, croquettes, chicken, and tortillas. Everything tasted good. The plaza location is excellent, surrounded by atmospheric apartment buildings, a hotel, and a church. It did feel as though the staff were rushing people through to fit in as many customers as possible. There was a queue when we arrived, but we got a number and waited only 5-6 minutes for a table in the middle of the plaza. Drinks were ordered and brought out quickly. The table was a little too small for four, so we had to put the bread basket on the ground.

The chicken was juicy and tasty, the croquettas were okay, and the paella portion was generous, though the flavor was a bit underwhelming. The fries were old and tired, which let the meal down. A fairly decent lunch, but nothing special. Outside service was friendly and about as quick as you get around here.

We first came for breakfast and loved the tomato and olive oil toast with freshly squeezed orange juice. We returned for lunch and later for a glass of wine after dinner. It's always busy with locals, but people turn over quickly, so there's usually a seat. Friendly service, and everything was clean.
