Castillo De La Riba

The village is so peaceful, with stunning views of the castle. Pablo was attentive and friendly the whole time, and we’d definitely come back. We spent a weekend there as a group of 15 adults and one child, and he let us have the entire house. It’s welcoming and well equipped, with spacious, warm rooms and no detail missed. There are two gardens across from the house, one with a BBQ, gazebo, and more.

We stayed at Castillo de la Riba I, the five-bedroom house. The house itself is fine, but two things really bothered us, plus a smaller issue. The downstairs room had a strong musty smell. Since it’s below ground level, it didn’t feel pleasant or safe to sleep there, as damp houses often have mold. Also, the fridge had been left off, and the freezer was full of water from melted ice left by previous guests. That was a real nuisance when you have food and drinks that need chilling. For the price, we expected better. There’s no patio at the house. Instead, there’s a nice little plot with tables, chairs, a small fridge, and a barbecue, but it’s several blocks away. You have to leave the house and walk through several streets to reach it, which is inconvenient with children. The website calls it a private garden, which is technically true, but doesn’t say it’s away from the house, giving the impression it’s attached. I’d call that false advertising. My photo shows the actual house; the Google Maps location is wrong, and I included the route to the “patio.”

The owner was really kind and attentive, and gave us tips for exploring the area. We had a cozy weekend with friends or family in mind, and the house is perfectly located for sightseeing.

The barbecue area became a great place for everyone to gather, and the small pool was a hit with adults and kids alike. We were 15 adults, six children, and two pets, spread across all three available houses at Casa Rural Castillo de la Riba. Each one was comfortable, practical, and had everything we needed for an easy stay. The host was always reachable and paid attention to every detail. The peaceful, picturesque village of Riba de Santiuste and its unique castle add a lot to the setting, and made it easy to switch off. We had a fantastic weekend and would definitely consider these houses for another getaway. Highly recommended.
