The pool and gardens were pleasant, but we found the indoor comfort lacking. Our room was tiny and dated, and the stay was very uncomfortable for the high price. Calling La Peña “Luxury” felt deeply misleading and disappointing. Its remote location was also a major hassle: you absolutely need a car for activities, meals, or trips into Tarifa town, which undermines a relaxing beach holiday. If modern rooms, easy access to local amenities, and good value matter to you, look elsewhere. It was overpriced and didn't deliver the promised luxury.

The staff were no help at all when we raised our concerns. The “sea view” was only a tiny sliver of blue between two other buildings, and the room smelled moldy and felt very damp. This was meant to be a “luxury” stay, but it was anything but. Worst stay ever. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Getting to the place was difficult even with a car, and there wasn't anything to do nearby. The room was in poor condition and unclean, and it hadn't been made clear that the pool was shared. Everything was dirty, even the pool area. The outside lights didn't work, so we had to ask the host to do something. The electricity kept cutting out. The AC couldn't run even with only the fridge on, and all our food went bad. This stay was hell. Just don't go there.

We arrived in the early evening with a toddler, only to find a mistake in our booking and have to find somewhere else to stay. The company we booked through was helpful, though.

Nobody was at the gate to check me in, and no one picked up the phone. I had to find another hotel. Stay away from this place!
