Lances Beach Penthouses

This is about Elena Bautista’s other apartment, Beach Front House in Los Lances, Tarifa, Spain. After we reported yellow-stained mattresses and a moldy, dirty bathroom, the owner made us leave with less than 24 hours’ notice, at 7pm, after just two nights. The host even acknowledged the problem, saying, “I have forwarded this to the cleaning company. That is disgusting.” The whole experience was awful. It’s a relatively old, very basic apartment facing only the street, not a beachfront house. The Booking.com title and description are inaccurate and misleading. The beach photo is taken in front of the building, about 50m away, and you can’t see the beach from the apartment. There’s no air conditioning, and with the windows open for air, it was very hot in July. Traffic is right outside all the windows day and night. The so-called sea view is through ten other apartments and their pretty parasols. This apartment has none, just a tiny 2-4m patio with four old chairs and a small old table. The double bed is only 140x180 cm, which is unacceptable for two European adults. Booking.com shared my private phone number without my consent, and I was harassed on WhatsApp. Trying to relocate urgently in Tarifa with two kids made the situation extremely stressful, and it took several days to sort out. I’m happy to share photos if asked. Avoid this property if you expect cleanliness, a quiet and pleasant holiday, or basic respect. Booking.com won’t let me leave a negative review. That may be why this property keeps a high rating, with only positive feedback, possibly from friends or family, remaining.
