Teror is a quiet, pretty town rather than a busy tourist spot, so there aren't many restaurants or shops right nearby. That gave us a chance to get a feel for local life, though. We spent our first two days on Gran Canaria at Casa Irene, up in the mountains, and loved how peaceful and homely it felt, more like a traditional Canarian house than a modern hotel. The views are lovely, but getting there means driving on steep roads, and the parking spot could be tricky if you're not used to hills. Inside, it's comfortable and has what you need, including a well-stocked kitchen and reliable Wi-Fi. The jacuzzi and table tennis were nice unexpected extras. A charming place to unwind and enjoy the mountains.

That balcony off the main bedroom is my favorite place in the house. It's quiet, with a lovely view, and perfect for sitting with a book. I already knew the place, so I knew what to expect, and it's spectacular. They've updated the leisure area, and it seems to get better each year. I come here to switch off and plan to return every year. I recommend it completely.

The outdoor area is a real highlight, with a barbecue, jacuzzi, foosball and ping pong. The house itself is quiet and cozy, with plenty of room and lovely views. Fantastic!
