Hotel Abad Toledo

The convent setting is right by Puerta del Sol, and there's a bus route nearby. Parking was easy to find a few minutes away. The thick, two-foot walls kept outside noise out. Inside, the place feels updated and modern while still retaining its historic character. The staff were excellent and very helpful, even at 3 am.

The location made it easy to get to everything we wanted to see, and our room was quiet and comfortable. Our first day went very well. On the second day we were in Spain during the countrywide blackout. It was unsettling, even though we didn't get caught up in anything that needed electricity. What bothered me was being told to look around nearby streets and shops for food, when staff knew the power was out across the country and nothing could be sold. In that strange and tense situation, I felt the hotel could have helped guests more and made their stay easier. If I were in their position, I'd have tried to make sure guests didn't have to walk from place to place searching for something to eat. The owner responded to my review, but misunderstood what I said about the blackout. We were there for two days; the first day was excellent and there were no hotel problems. I knew when the power went out and was very aware when it came back on. I never said the outage lasted two days.

A handy place to stay in Toledo, with a good location and parking. Some rooms are small, especially the bathrooms, and there aren't many amenities. I forgot my comb and they didn't have one, which seemed strange. Still, for the price, it was good value.

The room looked gorgeous, the bed was comfy, and the shower was great, hot and powerful. The only real issue was noise through the door. We were beside the elevator and stairs, so we heard people passing at all hours, day and night.
