The street noise ruined the second night. We had asked for a quiet room and a superior room with what was described as a balcony, but all four superior rooms apparently face a busy street, with a bar and outdoor seating next door. We were put in the room closest to it. That night there were rowdy customers and a loud motorcycle, and it was all going on until 2 am. Just after 1 am I reported it using the same number the hotel information came through. They apologized and said they couldn't make outgoing calls, but told me to reply “human” if I wanted to speak to someone. Nobody got in touch. Around 10 the next morning I finally received a message through Booking.com. It was something like an apology, but said they couldn't be held responsible for the bar's behavior. They wouldn't acknowledge that they'd put us in the room closest to the bar or that they had failed to respond until well after breakfast time. I also expected a superior room to have seating for two. The Booking.com street photos don't show the bar's outdoor seating, and the photos of two chairs and a table apparently on a balcony are misleading. Those are in a public area, not part of any accommodation. I asked for a 50% refund and they flatly refused. It was implied that my quiet-room request had been ignored because I was paying a premium for a so-called superior room. They seemed more interested in taking the extra money than advising me how best to meet my request.
