Hotel la Bastida

The room was clean and acceptable, but the towels were old and frayed. We arrived when it was 41 degrees, and the room and, more importantly, the refrigerator were also at 41 degrees. Booking a garage space was difficult because you had to phone ahead and hope someone was there to open the doors. Breakfast wasn’t worth 9 euros per person, including children. There was no yoghurt, cereal, fruit, cheese or meat, just burnt toast and croissants and a very undercooked tortilla. Don’t prepay for it. Aside from the receptionist, there seemed to be only one other worker, a waiter who spoke no English and was extremely inconsiderate and unhelpful. We could never get in touch with the owner or manager, and weren’t sure they existed.

The mattresses were comfortable, the staff were friendly and everything was clean. For a three-star hotel, it felt like a five-star stay.

A small hotel in a quiet neighborhood, a short drive from the city, so you need a car. The employees said it was built in 2014. It’s beautifully maintained, very clean and pleasant, and the staff are really nice and provide good service. I’ll likely come back next time I visit beautiful Toledo.

The tapas they serve with drinks in the evenings and on weekends are superb. It’s a bright, well-located place with friendly owners and good quality food and drink. Tourists, business travellers and locals all seem to like it.
