Hotel Pintor El Greco

I really enjoyed the stay in this charming local hotel. It's in an old building with lovely character and style, and, to my surprise, the bathroom even had a jacuzzi. The old town is easy to explore from here. I felt comfortable walking alone through the beautiful alleys around 9 pm and getting back to the hotel. The door didn't block sound very well, though the other guests were generally quiet. We also found lots of small ants in the bathroom. On the second morning, several were crawling on my teacup after I'd used it for grapes.

The room was spacious and clean, though there was a bit of a drain smell in the restroom. The location is convenient for St Martin bridge, the monastery and the synagogue, with a bus stop, taxi stop and lots of good restaurants nearby.

The hotel is in a quiet area close to the center, with a lovely room and a nice view. There are good restaurants nearby, and the hotel itself has an excellent Italian restaurant and bar. The bathroom was spacious and came with good toiletries and bath robes. There was also coffee, tea and a refrigerator stocked with various drinks. I'd definitely choose this hotel again when I come back to Toledo.

We stayed at Hotel Pintor El Greco when we visited Toledo in 1998, and they still had a record of that stay when we returned. They left a complimentary bottle of wine and sweets in our room to show their appreciation. The fact that I remembered this hotel after 26 years says a lot, especially since we travel internationally quite a bit. The rooms are spacious by European standards, and the beds are very comfortable. It's clean and well situated, with friendly staff. I also liked that when I spoke Spanish, the staff didn't switch to English. I can't say whether they did it to show off their language skills, but many Spaniards and French people usually answer me in English even though my Spanish and French are more than passable. I know many people make Toledo a day trip from Madrid, but stay the night here.
