Hotel Silken Ordesa

The staff were kind, the restaurant was great, and they did a good job accommodating my dietary restrictions, so I still had a great stay. But with the thin walls, I could clearly hear people talking and coughing in nearby rooms and the hallway. That didn't feel like a four-star experience.

The setting and views are wonderful, and the garden out front was a nice place to have a drink after a walk. We stayed three nights and would choose the hotel again. The room was spacious, very clean, and had good air conditioning, which we needed in July. Staff were friendly, the reception area was nice, and the spa was great too. It's a lovely three-star hotel, though I think it feels more like four. The restaurant and breakfast were good, and the cafeteria also served excellent food at good prices. It's a 12-15 minute walk into town.

The rooms were spacious but a little dim, and the bathroom and shower were good. Food was good too, though the service felt somewhat confused and stiff. You have to book the hot tub ahead of time. It's a 20-minute walk to Torla, the small town nearby, and a 15-minute bus ride to the main hiking area.

The stay was disappointing from booking through checkout. The hotel felt dirty and run down, like a motel, and the terrace we paid for was in such poor condition that we couldn't use it. The walls were paper thin, so noise carried from all directions and made sleeping difficult. Paint was peeling, and without air conditioning the room was stuffy in peak summer. The staff seemed unhappy to be there, though we appreciated the empathy from the reception staff when we explained what had happened. We booked directly because the website said cancellations and changes were free. About 30 minutes later, we noticed our mistake and emailed right away. We heard nothing for more than three weeks, with no explanation or apology for the delay. Then they said they couldn't cancel or change the booking, despite the policy stated on their site. That's misleading when money is involved, and the service was poor. We lost the money, so we came for the dates we could rather than lose it all.
