We could walk to the city center, museums, the palace, and the old town from this hotel, and there was plenty nearby to see and eat. The airport was just a short Uber ride away. What really stood out, though, was the staff: Jenny, the first-floor room keeper, Mar, the counter manager, and Andrea at the counter were all professional, friendly, and so helpful. I’d happily stay here again.

The team at reception were welcoming, professional, and quick to help with directions, which made the stay feel easy. My room was spotless and nicely equipped, and the bed was extremely comfortable. For a quieter night, I’d ask for a room overlooking the inner courtyard. The hotel itself feels modern and elegant. It’s also very handy for getting around: Atocha station is a short walk away, as are the Prado and Reina Sofía, right by Madrid’s Art Triangle.

Breakfast was fresh, varied, and well organized, with plenty of options for different tastes. The whole property was very clean and clearly cared for when it came to hygiene. It’s a peaceful, quiet hotel, great for resting. I had a very pleasant stay and would gladly come back or recommend it.

The lobby and restaurant are pleasant, and my room was clean and roomy. But the room was really noisy: street sounds came straight through, and I could hear people in the corridor and on the floor above. The bathroom also looks very dated and could use a renovation. Reception staff weren’t very kind.

The upgraded room was spacious and squeaky clean, like the rest of the hotel. The gym is small, with free weights and three cardio machines, but it worked for us. We had a great four-night stay at the Carlton hotel. Things got off to a bit of a rough start because of the way Marriott handles things, but we soon came to love the staff, who were all really nice. Breakfast costs a bit much, though it was easily one of the best. Metro line 3 is just around the corner, and Atocha station is 500 m away. We used the 203 bus to and from the airport for 5 EUR per person. We’ll be back!
