DoubleTree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort

The spa was in a really poor state: the pool water looked cloudy, there was rubbish in the sauna areas, and socks and other things had been left around. It felt like cleaning and supervision were lacking. Our room was also far too hot because the heating was running excessively. The only way we could control it was to switch off the electrical fuse. We couldn't open the windows either, since there was a strong, unpleasant smell outside, so there was no proper way to air the room. The upkeep and management fell below basic hospitality standards. We're extremely disappointed and counting down the hours until checkout at this 5* star hotel!!!

The bed was wonderful, which matters most to me, and breakfast was generous and good quality. The pool has lovely views over the golf course, and Room 325 has a stunning outlook with the longest afternoon sun on the balcony. The underground parking is decent, though it costs €22 a day. I nearly gave the hotel three stars, but settled on four because the things it does well are really very good. There are still details needing attention: loose mosaic tiles in the pool, wasp nests that haven't been removed, scuffs and damage in shared areas, and a poolside terrace that could be cleaner. The door closer makes an unpleasant noise, and the glass toilet door bangs loudly against its frame. The lake water level is outside the hotel's control, but it's much too low and makes the view less impressive. Check-in felt disjointed. I asked for a Digital Key and was told I'd get one, while also requesting that my physical keycards stay active. A woman wearing a trainee badge was on duty and gave the impression it would all be sorted. It took several calls to the front desk before the Digital Key worked, and my physical cards had been deactivated despite my request. The Digital Key also wouldn't open the parking exit, so I had to use the intercom. Afterward, the receptionist seemed curt and a bit bitter when we passed by a few times. Mr. Gómez, the General Manager, I'd invite you to take this feedback seriously and have me back once these issues are fixed. This hotel has a strong base, with a lovely golf course, comfortable bedding, a generous breakfast and a pool with beautiful views, but the details need work.

The staff were fabulous, and our double room with a balcony was very well placed. La Torre Golf urbanisation is an excellent location, and food and drinks were sensibly priced both at the hotel and at the nearby bars and restaurants. Parking is the downside. Hilton charges €22 per day, even though there are literally hundreds of free spaces around the hotel. Shame on them for this shakedown.

Raul and Madalina were always cheerful and ready to help, and Abraham greeted us with a smile at breakfast each morning. Everyone we met was friendly, professional, and genuinely kind. Our family had a lovely stay at the La Torre. The room was spacious, had excellent views, and suited us perfectly. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with everything we needed to relax. Thanks to all the Hilton staff for making us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, and we'll definitely be back.
