Hostal El Peine

For the price, I don’t think you’ll find anything better, though the rooms are very small and have no air conditioning, just a little ceiling fan. I felt safe here as a solo woman travelling. There are motion-sensor cameras in every hallway, and I think I heard the bathroom being cleaned a few times a day. It’s a great hostel if you just want somewhere quiet to rest. Plaza Mayor is only a few steps away, with some restaurants and shops. I had a good experience overall.

The location is excellent, right in the city centre, and there’s a Lidl just a few minutes away. Staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, the kitchen is alright, and the bathrooms are great, with hot water in the showers every time. There’s no air conditioning, but they do have fans. If you’re after a cheap, easy place to stay, it’s great. One of the better hostels I’ve stayed in.

A decent place to get some rest. The rooms have ceiling fans instead of air conditioning, but it wasn’t too bad and felt fairly cozy. There’s a TV in each room, two shared toilets with standing bath plates, and free cold water for guests. The shared fridge is medium-sized, probably enough if you’re not buying a lot of food. There’s a flight of stairs, so it’s not suitable for people with disabilities. It’s basically a hostel for sleeping, nothing more.

The rooms are clean, and the price is pretty good. It’s a small hostel that looks like a regular home with a reception, and may well be one. The bathroom is shared, with a toilet, shower, and hand basin all in one room without any separation. You’ll need to walk a few minutes to local parking, and free spaces nearby are there if you get lucky. There are several 24-hour shops, average local restaurants, and fast-food places close by. Barajas airport is less than 20 minutes away.
