What bothered us most was the repeated discriminatory and uncomfortable attention my partner received from other guests. People would stare, stop, or turn around to look at her several times each day, making the stay unpleasant. When we brought it up, the concern was dismissed as a “feeling” and our personal “characterization,” as your reply put it. That dismissal feels especially at odds with the message’s emphasis on respect, inclusion, and equality. A hotel can’t control every guest, but management’s response says a lot about the values put into practice. Your reply seems to spend most of its time defending procedures and discussing parking, while overlooking the main concern we raised. I’m also disappointed that you still avoid saying what actually happened at the entrance. Saying I intended to leave an honest review after a disappointing stay should not reasonably be called a threat. To clarify the departure incident for anyone reading: what fell at the entrance was a biodegradable McDonald’s paper cup full of Coca-Cola, not a glass. It wasn’t thrown; it slipped from my hands. Maybe it slipped just as the repeated staring at my partner could, according to your manager, simply “slip by.” We relied on the reception staff’s parking information because we were visitors unfamiliar with the area. I’ll leave future guests to read both sides and decide for themselves. I hope they experience the respect and inclusion mentioned in your message more clearly than we did. The rooftop bar terrace is a lovely place to sit and unwind, especially if you get a room with a view from the top of the hotel. The service was great, and the staff were professional while still being friendly and kind. One of the best hotels.

The breakfast had a huge choice and was very good, and we also enjoyed the rooftop food. They have entertainment in the bar every night, too. The room itself was nice with a good bathroom, and every room has a balcony. It’s a large hotel across two blocks, with a pool between them and rooftop pools on both. We had a mixed stay, though. On arrival, the air conditioning was set to heat at 18 degrees. I called to ask for a change and was told that was the winter setting, and to turn it off and use the fan. The fan didn’t work. We reported it, but nobody came to fix it, so we had to leave the door open all night. Room service was also poor: on the second day they eventually came at 3:30 after we called, but didn’t empty the bathroom bin, left a dirty cup, and didn’t replace the toilet rolls. We’ve just got home after three nights at the Melia.

Evening shows were surprisingly good on most nights, and we had a nice stay. The staff were helpful and friendly, while housekeeping kept our room very clean. The room itself was fine. We hadn’t paid much for the holiday, so the slightly disappointing dinner buffet was easy enough to overlook.
