Apartamentos Martalia Nerja

The views are amazing. That's the only amazing thing about this place. We couldn't get any phone signal anywhere in the apartment block, which felt really dangerous. The person who was meant to meet us wasn't there when we arrived. When we called, we were told to ring an hour beforehand, but nobody had given us that information. The woman made us wait in the hallway while she prepared a “surprise,” even though she could hear our baby crying and knew we'd already waited an hour. It was sickly sweet cava and under-ripe avocados. Thanks. The manual bluntly lists the cost of every item and what you'd owe if something got damaged, but the apartment had different things from the inventory, including completely different chairs. There was no hairdryer, and nobody dealt with our request despite us asking three days in a row. The coffee machine and toaster were broken, and a socket was broken with live wires exposed. There was cement splattered on the walls. Outside, the table for drinks was broken and mostly gone. There was no salt or washing-up liquid, and empty industrial soap dispensers were rusting on the wall. The toilet brush was broken and smelled foul. They came into our apartment without permission. There were no arrangements for rubbish, and we were asked to keep it over the weekend because nobody would take it away. What are guests meant to do if they cook seafood? This is Spain! The children's games room is a cute touch, but it's only for tiny kids, probably no one older than three. The adults' room is basically a cold living room with a pool table. Why bother? The indoor pool was warm, but there was a soaking wet, damp rug in the elevator. Gross. We got one toilet roll for the whole week. This place pretends to be a hotel when it really, really isn't. The Wi-Fi was broken, so we couldn't make calls and had to go out to the street to call pharmacies and others. It just wasn't worth the money. It's expensive for Spain, and I expected things to work and not be soiled by previous guests or ignored by their superior concierge service. Crooks!!!

We were here with our family and young children, and it was an awful stay. The property manager didn't help with the many problems: hot water issues, no Wi-Fi or TV reception, and loud parties going until 4am. There was also open drug use in the shared areas. Stay away from this horrible place. One star.

A nice room at a good price, and free parking too.
