The location was the one real plus, about 5minutes from Cánovas del Castillo and 10 from the Cathedral, and the street stayed fairly quiet until morning. The bedrooms were a decent size and the WiFi was okay. They sent instructions for getting in, though finding the place was a little tricky. Inside, it was dirty and badly worn, nothing like the photos. The shared bathroom had black mould in the shower and no hook for a normal setup. The dining nook with tables, chairs and a tea point has been turned into another bedroom, leaving an incredibly cringy kitchen. Some appliances were there, but the hair dryer was so filthy I wouldn't touch it, the ironing board was mouldy, and the scissors were beyond repair. The old single-glazed windows rattled loudly whenever a bus went by. We had to sleep with them open, luckily it was warm. The mattresses were too soft and uncomfortable. One had such a huge dip in the middle that we swapped it for a mattress we found under the bed, because my boyfriend got awful back pain after just one night. The doors are so thin you can hear everyone using the bathroom, and five other rooms share one shower and one toilet. The sheets and towels were stained.

Getting in and checking out went smoothly, and they let us leave our bags there on the day we checked out. The hotel is on the first floor, which isn't obvious, and it's about a ten-minute walk to the metro. The host couldn't have been more helpful. The spot was perfect for a weekend, near the centre, the park and plenty of restaurants. It has a hostel sort of feel, and the busy street can be noisy, so bring earplugs.

The location was the only good part, close to the city centre and a few restaurants. The room itself was clean, but the shared shower room was disgusting and badly outdated. There were no hooks for bags or towels, just one chair, which felt gross if everyone had to put their things there. There's no regular concierge schedule. When transport was delayed, rebooking check-in took extra effort. The angry man who answered complained that he'd waited for 2 hours and said he hadn't received any call or message, though he had tried to reach us through the booking site. A woman came about an hour later, apparently the best they could manage. She didn't know which room we were meant to have and opened the wrong one. A lesbian couple was inside, thankfully nothing too private was going on. I felt awful for them.

The staff were kind and the location was great, so this isn't personal, but the place felt overpriced. We had a double room with a private bathroom outside it. The bathroom was rough: mould on the wall, a shower that clogged constantly, and not enough slope between the shower area and the non-tiled toilet area. Even with only 10minutes of showering and turning off the tap while washing my hair, body and face, the water still came close to flooding over. We left the extractor running overnight, but the bathroom was still damp. There's a pump machine behind the toilet that makes a loud noise whenever you flush, shower or wash your hands. I uploaded a video of the flooding, which happened after my 10-minute shower. The room light didn't work, so we used the bed light instead. One side of the mattress had softer springs and sometimes gave me back pain. There was a big hole in the kitchen ceiling, which made using the bedroom ceiling fan a little scary, especially since it wobbled whenever it was on. We stayed three nights and only had the room and bathroom cleaned once. I understand old plumbing and facilities can be hard to maintain. Still, if nothing can be done about them, they could make the price easier to justify with free breakfast or something.

It looked nothing like the pictures. This wasn't even a hotel, just a dirty pension with a shared bathroom. The windows were so old you could hear the buzz when you flew outside, so there was no real place to rest. The towels were old and dirty, below what I'd expect even at a one-star hotel. The mirror, pillows, table and curtains were dirty too, and the bathroom was disgusting. After seeing the condition on arrival, I cancelled my booking and lost £200.
