Hotel Neptuno Playa & Spa

The hotel was very clean, but overall it definitely didn’t feel like a 4-star property. The room photos shown during booking were completely misleading. Our room had one window facing a shaft-like courtyard and an external elevator, so there was no way to tell the time of day or what the weather was like. It felt depressing. I suspect around 6 rooms have windows facing that courtyard. The elevator banged loudly whenever it was used and kept waking us up. On the night of January 1st to 2nd, techno music from a nearby beach nightclub was extremely loud, even after midnight. That was completely unacceptable to me, since January 2nd isn’t a public holiday and the noise should have stopped by midnight at the latest. Reception said they couldn’t help and had no other rooms available. Moving probably wouldn’t have made a difference anyway, since I’m sure the noise carried throughout the hotel. At check-in, reception insisted on my credit card number or a €100 deposit per night, even though we’d paid in full in advance. They said it was for the room’s “drinks bar,” which turned out to be one 0.5-liter can of Coke and two small bottles of mineral water. I still don’t understand why they needed my card details for that. On January 2nd, our check-out day, we found there was no water in the bathroom at about 8:20 a.m. It was alarming, though thankfully the water came back around 9:00. We didn’t need to leave early, but guests heading to the airport sooner must have been inconvenienced.

We’ve come back for a second stay, and being here feels like coming home. The people are incredibly friendly and attentive, and Hotel Neptuno has a lovely design inside and out. I like the rooms, and the beds are clean and comfortable. The hotel is right across from a very long beach that I love walking along for hours, with plenty of places to sit, eat and have a drink. Breakfast is very nice, especially the made-to-order egg dishes, and I love the coffee here. I also had a massage at the hotel Spa. The people there were friendly and skilled, and the massage was a very good, authentic Thai one. I’m already looking forward to returning.

The rooms have cool artwork, and reception was very friendly. There’s parking close to the hotel. It’s a good place to stay in Valencia if you want to be by the beach, and getting to the city center is easy too.

I had a fabulous stay and would come back again and again. The Spa was spotless, and Zendy gave me the most relaxing, therapeutic massage.
