River Hostel

NATHI at reception made a real difference, with her warmth, professionalism, and care for guests' comfort. The whole stay was fantastic: a clean, comfortable hostel in a great location, with wonderful service.

For what it costs, this was a great hostel. It's in a quiet spot but still near the city center, and the beds are comfortable with big lockers. Showers were clean, with shampoo and shower gel provided. Breakfast at 8 is too late for most people. It'd help if it started earlier, or at least if we could come in for coffee.

The location is good, but I wouldn't recommend this place to a young woman. The mattresses are worn and uncomfortable, and mine had a deep dip in the middle. Security also felt far too loose, since anyone can walk in and wander around. The bathrooms are a long way down dark halls, which felt unsettling if you needed to get up during the night. The kitchen was filthy in the morning, with all three sinks clogged with dishes. Some guests left huge messes on the counters and tables without washing up, and no one seemed to say anything. It felt like they expected the cleaners to handle everything.

I got work done at River Hostel too, thanks to the big table and outlets downstairs, plus a little corner to relax in. Drinks were cheap, and there was free water and coffee. The practical stuff was good as well: plenty of showers and toilets on each floor, with strong pressure and properly hot water. I spent three nights in a clean, roomy 8-bed dorm, and my locker could hold my whole backpack under the bed. The staff were funny and welcoming, always happy to chat or help. They put on activities most evenings and sometimes had free food. I met loads of friendly people, and we went out together every night, then even kept traveling together. Thanks to everyone at River Hostel for such a good stay!
