Rural house La Quinta de Maluromantic Getaways in Cuenca 4

We were thrilled to find this hidden gem in the Cuenca countryside. The Roman site and its ruins and artefacts were really interesting, and in summer we also caught live music in the village square. The house itself is beautiful and full of history and character, with its own Visigothic cave. Its eclectic decor gives it a distinctive feel, and every room is different. Javier and Malu were attentive hosts, and we really enjoyed chatting with them. The homemade vegan food was another highlight for us, especially since that’s rare in rural Spain. The rooms were fantastic too.

Javier told us about the house, built in 1600, and their culture. The paintings are beautiful, and the place is decorated so nicely. The hosts were very kind and welcomed us warmly. They let us sample delicious local food. I’d recommend visiting, and bringing warm clothes.

We arrived to find nobody there, and the phone number didn’t exist, so I can’t say much beyond that. The exterior photos on booking.com don’t seem to show this place. It looked filthy, with grime caked on the windows. Beware. They later tried to charge me for the booking despite nobody being there to let us in. Luckily, I’d frozen the card. It caused a huge inconvenience because we were travelling with pets, and we book well ahead since finding pet-friendly rooms can be difficult. In the end, I think we dodged a bullet.

The hosts were so wonderful and made us feel like family. This is a very nice BnB, with excellent service and food. We had a romantic weekend getaway and will definitely go back. I highly recommend it.
