We had to buy new tickets to leave early because we couldn’t find another place to stay. We couldn’t change our original tickets, and lost the holiday, the car rental, and the family days we’d planned to enjoy. The owner suggested a refund, then refused in the end. We’d come with our young children for some peace and quiet, trusting the listing photos and good reviews. Instead, the house felt uninhabitable and unsafe for a family. It was damp and smelled of mold and spores. Large spiders covered the walls, mice got into our bags, windows were broken and held with tape, and the railings had gaps a child could fall through. There was no safety barrier on the terrace. We told the owner at once that the house was very dirty. He didn’t come while we were there, but entered when we were out, swept a little, left the dustpan full of dirt, and set mouse traps. The place stayed just as dirty and dangerous. The kids were crying when they heard the mice, so we had to release five live ones from the traps during our stay. The air was unbearable. We were all sneezing and had red eyes from the damp and accumulated dirt, and the children were scared to sleep alone. When we said we’d come to relax, not clean his house, he just said, “We’re in the countryside.” Sure, but hygiene and safety still matter. I don’t know what sort of guests they’re aiming for or whether the house was ever properly maintained, but it doesn’t meet basic standards of habitability or safety. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially families with children. It shouldn’t be offered until it meets minimum standards for hygiene, safety, and respect for guests.

The old Canarian house has been renovated beautifully, with lovely decor, and it’s peaceful at any time of day. The views and magnificent dragon tree at the entrance make the location special. Inside, the temperature was wonderful, the bed, duvet, and sofa were comfortable, and the modern washing machine worked perfectly. It felt like a special stay, and I’m sure we’ll return. A few practical things could be better. Some of the lower areas are a bit dark, and the rocky footpath makes it awkward to carry things unless you wear comfortable shoes. Clearing the weeds in the garden might make breakfast at the little table nicer. We could also have used a few more kitchen items in the occasional room, and utensils by the barbecue.

There’s loads here to make a holiday comfortable, from the very nice bathroom and living room to DVDs and music. The owner was attentive and helpful, and pets are allowed. We’ll definitely return. The house is up a sloping dirt road, so getting luggage or groceries out of the car is a bit of a pain, but the setting makes it worth it. It’s wonderfully quiet, with tables and chairs in front and behind the house, plus a barbecue and charcoal grill. Everything inside is well equipped. There’s an upstairs bedroom with a double bed, and the living room sofa turns into a bed. The laundry room has detergent, softener, a clothesline, and an ironing board. The kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven, big fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and blender, along with basics like salt, sugar, oil, foil, napkins, tea, a scrubber, and dishcloth. It feels like you never left home.

Marcos was a great host, and that barbecue is a must. The house was lovely and peaceful, with all the comforts in a rustic setting. I’d happily come back.

The silence there has a way of settling you, and the house has such a lovely charm. Marcos was an extraordinary host. We’ll definitely return, 100% recommend.
