Hostal Illas Cies

The service was more or less okay, but the building and rooms are very old and the rooms are small. It has three floors, with old wooden stairs that make noise throughout the building. The surrounding area is noisy too.

We couldn’t sleep at all. Street noise came through all night as if it were inside the room. The place was dirty and old, and there were worrying cracks in the walls that had been plastered over. My wife and I were terribly itchy during the night, though it stopped once we left in the morning. I’d only stay here if desperate, and even then it isn’t worth more than €5 per person per night. Stay away!

The beds are so narrow for two that you end up practically on top of each other when you turn over. We also had stretches with no water, and every day we could hear someone vomiting in the next room. The place smelled of marijuana and cigarettes, and the receptionist was the least friendly I’ve ever met. Worst hotel. Avoid it!

The rooms are basic, with a musty smell, though they weren’t dirty. You get what you pay for here, so it’s fine for saving money if you’re not expecting anything fancy. The staff, at least, are friendly and very polite.
