Hotel Allon Mediterrània

I wouldn’t recommend this place. The hotel looks very plastic and worn, and my basic room had lots of damage and wasn’t clean. The bathroom was disgusting, with a dirty floor, mould in the bath, and chips on the toilet seat. There was no hot water, and nobody answered the phone. (See photos.) There was only one charging point and no hooks for towels. The room was next to the service lift and noisy. I’d booked a double, but got two single beds. The pool area is tiny, and the old sunbeds need replacing. This definitely isn’t a 4-star hotel. More like 2 stars. Avoid.

The sunbeds by the pool were dreadful, saggy and uncomfortable. It was also odd that the hotel wouldn’t open the doors between the bar and pool. To get a drink, we sometimes had to go back through the dining area, but when that was closed, we had to leave by the main entrance, walk along the pavement to the bar, then retrace our steps to the pool. We spent a week here in May with friends who live in Spain, after looking for a coastal place reachable by Alicante Tram. Vila Joiosa looked suitable, and Alleron was a mixed bag. Our sea-facing room was fine, and breakfast was okay. One staff member made a lot of noise while putting plates back and started clearing away well before service ended.

The place was clean, but that’s about the only good thing. It felt uncomfortable, sparse, tired, old and broken, and the food was bad.

Every room faces the sea, and you can watch sunrise and sunset from the balconies. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. The staff are lovely, especially Mariano, Pedro and Niki.
