Being just 2 km from Cabarceno made this a handy base if you want to get to the entrance early, and Santander is close enough for a day trip. We stayed one night in the small separate building, which worked for us. I can't speak to the rooms in the main building, and we did leave the owner some feedback in the hope it would be useful. The surroundings are lovely and peaceful. We also had a long, helpful conversation with the owner and the man running the place. They gave us some good recommendations. One thing to watch out for in the area: restaurants can all be closed on the same day, sometimes unexpectedly, so finding an open place on a Monday may take a while.

Maria was so kind when we arrived hungry and found the cafeteria closed. They quickly made us something and warm milk, and we really appreciated the care. She also has a lovely personality and recommended some good books for my teenagers. The place is quiet and beautiful. It does feel dated, but that's part of its charm, and the style and construction look good. We loved staying here.
