Hotel Avenida Real

The staff were genuinely friendly and kind. This boutique hotel is charming and reasonably priced, just beyond the last remains of Villaviciosa’s old town wall. The rooms are small but do the job, and the decor is fabulous.

The receptionist was really friendly and arranged secure overnight storage for our bikes. The rooms are large, clean, and nicely done in a colonial style. There’s a restaurant nearby.

We had a very disappointing stay at Hotel Avenida Real. On arrival, we waited at least 50 minutes to get in because nobody was at reception. You have to call, and then someone comes to let you in. The staff weren't polite to us, and the rooms and bathroom were small. We only found one towel in the room when there should have been two. Parking isn't at the hotel and is a bit of a walk away. Staff tried to tell us it cost 7€, but the boss later said it was 5€, explaining that was the amount he had to pay to reserve it. That came up after we were already upset with the whole situation. Not recommended.

The owner was very nice, and the room was clean. The bathroom had everything we needed, and breakfast was good. It's also close to restaurants, the city center, and the Camino de Santiago.
