The old building lets in some sounds between rooms. Street noise was blocked well, but we could hear the stairwell clearly, along with toilet and shower sounds from neighboring rooms. I really liked staying at Hotel Sauce. It’s right in the old town, so walking everywhere was easy. The room had a simple, clean European look and felt thoughtfully decorated. The bathroom was spacious, and the shower worked wonderfully.

The place is mainly about the location, a few blocks from the main square, Pilar church, other attractions and loads of restaurants. Booking on their website should get you the best rate. Check-in was easy. One concern: they use physical keys and ask you to leave yours when you go out, but the keys are kept behind the desk where someone could just take one. We were given a crib without any fuss or extra charge. The room was simple, and the two double beds, basically a big King, took up much of the floor. Shower pressure was great. The double-paned outside windows kept all street sound out when shut. Service was great, with daily cleaning and fresh towels. We skipped the breakfast package and ate there once in our five-night stay. It was fine, though they were out of acai. The big drawback is how loud the interior floors are. You have to use a key to open the doors, then slam them shut, and you can hear every room doing that. With vinyl floors and an open stairwell, door slams and people in the stairwell carry everywhere. For some reason, everyone seemed to have their loudest conversations as they came out of the elevator. There’s also a sizeable gap, about 1 in/2.5 cm, under the room door that lets noise in. Even low grade carpeting would cut down the echo. Despite all that interior noise, we had a great stay and will book here next time we’re in Zaragoza.

What a sweet place to stay! The location was great, and having the restaurant and bakery attached was so convenient. It was super popular and had great vegan food. Every staff member we met was phenomenal. If we get back to this wonderful town, we want to stay here again.

Angela and Alex made my visit to Hotel Sauce feel like home. They were warm, attentive and always ready to help with the little things, with a smile and a kind word. They’re probably the nicest people I’ve met in Spain, and their kindness and professionalism made the stay comfortable and enjoyable. I had a wonderful time in Zaragoza. The hotel has cozy rooms and a great location, but it was these two staff members who really made it special. Thanks, Angela and Alex. You’re the heart of the place!

The staff were friendly, the restaurant on site was convenient, and the location in town was good. As a solo traveler, though, I seem to end up in the worst rooms at hotels lately. This one was tiny and oddly L-shaped, with the door to the right of the stairwell and the rest of the room, bath and narrow bed tucked behind the stairs. There was no nightstand, only a very narrow ledge above the bed. The bathroom and shower were pretty good, but the pocket door was missing. Solo guests deserve a bathroom door too!
